“If you’ve ever dreamed of Spiti Valley, do yourself a favor and go with Gear & Adventure. We chose the tempo traveller option and loved every second. The driver was experienced, the guides knew the history of every village, and the itinerary was just the right pace. We stopped at Chicham Bridge, explored ancient monasteries, and even got to taste authentic Tibetan food. The stay in Kaza was cozy with hot meals ready after a long day. I felt safe, inspired, and amazed throughout. This company truly delivers an adventure while keeping comfort in mind. Five stars without a doubt!”

Questions

Questions, answered

Getting there
  • Nearest airport: Guwahati (GAU)
  • Nearest station: Guwahati (GHY)
  • Land at Guwahati before 12 noon on Day 1 for the 12:30 PM departure, and book your return flight for 6 PM or later on Day 7.
How hard is the root bridge walk?

Moderate. About 3,500 steps down to Nongriat and the same back up, 6 km in total over 4–6 hours. Wear shoes with good grip; basic fitness is enough.

When is the Umngot at its clearest?

From about October to April. In the monsoon the river runs muddier, though the waterfalls are fuller.

Is Kaziranga open when I travel?

The park closes for the monsoon floods, roughly mid-May to September, and reopens around October. November to March is the best window for both the park and Meghalaya. Sightings are never guaranteed.

Do I need a permit?

Indian nationals do not need an Inner Line Permit for Meghalaya at the time of writing, but rules can change. Carry a government photo ID for hotels and the safari.

Can I add Kamakhya Devi?

Yes. Ask us when you book and we will plan a darshan in Guwahati on the last day, time and crowds permitting.
